Here are some facts about Bali:

Bali is in Indonesia and is 8 degrees south of the equator. The Island measures 153km by 112km.

Bali is known as the “last paradise on earth” and is the most popular tourist destination in the world. 2.57 million people visited last year. The country is known for its dancing, sculptures, paintings, leather, metal working and music.

The bali people speak balinese and indonesian. The population in 2010 was 3,891,000.  92% of the population are balinese hinduism.

The climate is tropical and they have two seaons. Dry season is from april to october and rainy season is from october to april.

Their currency is the rupiah.  Popular foods they like to eat are white rice, pork, spicy vegetables and exotic fruit.

The capital of Bali is Denpasur which is near the southern coast. Holiday destinations include Kuta, Ubud and Sanur. Places of interest to visit are Bangli temple, mountain resort of Bedugal, cave temple of Goa Gagah, Mas the woodcarvers village and Celuk which is known for its gold and silver jewellry.
