Hola mis amigos!

I received this beautiful postcard from Sabrina in Chile ♥ I have received a card from her already and I always love getting mail from Chile, as I have already been there and loved it!

The Atacama Desert is a plateau in South America, covering a 1,000-kilometre strip of land on the Pacific coast, west of the Andes mountains. It is the driest non-polar desert in the world. According to estimates the Atacama Desert proper occupies 105,000 square kilometres , or 128,000 square kilometres  if the barren lower slopes of the Andes are included. Most of the desert is composed of stony terrain, salt lakes (salares), sand, and felsic lava that flows towards the Andes.

On the card you can read the slogan “donde florece el desierto” that means something along “where the desert blooms”.

Divorce in Chile was legalized only in 2005, and the country has one of the lowest divorce rates globally.

Coquimbo, Chile

Hola mis amigos!

I have been a bit lazy lately with updating my blog, sorry for that 😀
So here comes a great card I got from Sabrina in Chile! Great! Love it ❤

On the card there is a lovely mural, which is in the english district of Coquimbo. It is called “From genesis to present-day Coquimbo” and was painted by the peruvian artist Luis López.

Coquimbo is a port city, commune and capital of the Elqui Province, located on the Pan-American Highway, in the Coquimbo Region of Chile. Coquimbo is situated in a valley 10 km (6 mi) south of La Serena, with which it forms Greater La Serena with more than 400,000 inhabitants.

Did you know?

Chile may derive its name from the indigenous Mapuche word chilli, which may mean “where the land ends.” Another meaning attributed to Chile’s name is the onomatopoeic “cheele-cheele”—the Mapuche imitation of a bird call

Hola amigos!

My second card from Chile comes from Sandy! Thank you very much I like this card a lot!

I have been in Chile 2009 (wow really a long time ago) I just started to learn spanish and everything was really new and overwhelming. I remember that this was my first long distance flight… Oh sweet memories 😀

I have also been to Santiago and I remember it as a very lovely city. I always like it when you see a mountain range so close. In this case – they are the Andes.
