Hallo Freunde!

I got this very great card from Stefanie! Thank you very much, this is an awesome card!

This piece of art was made by Dmitri Wrubel, an russian Artist and you can find it on the Berlin wall. The text underneath says: “My God, please let me survive this deadly love”.
It depicts the kissing communist leaders Leonid Brezhnev and Erich Honecker. The painting was inspired by the kiss they had in 1979, during the celebration of the 30 years of the GDR

I like this card very much!

Schwebebahn, Wuppertal, Germany

Hallo Freunde!

It has been a while since I posted a postcard from my own country – Germany. And I am very happy it is such a special and beautiful card, don’t you think? The sender, Hape, did send it to me after looking at my blog 🙂 So thank you very much Hape, I like it a lot. He is not only a nice postcard swapper, but also he took the photo for this card and he designes so lovely postcards for his hometown Wuppertal. You should definetly check out his homepage and his facebook page.

When I think about Wuppertal, I always think of the elephantchild “Tuffi”. This is really a great story! 1950 there was a circus in Wuppertal with the little elephant lady “Tuffi”. Tuffi was a very chilled elephant, so the director often used her for marketing gags. So he went with little Tuffi on the overhead railway (just the one you can see on the card!). But little Tuffi got nervous, and sprang out of the railway into the river Wupper. Luckily she did not hurt herself.

Hallo Freunde!

The highest mountain in Germany, the Zugspitze was send to me by my dear friend Anja! I hooked her up with postcards 😀 ;D ;D

Although the Zugspitze is not very far away from where I live, I have never been there. I mean I have been to the Alps, sure, as they are right before my doorstep, but never to this particular mountain. Something I have to add to my bucket list!

Cologne is located on both sides of the Rhine River. The city’s famous Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the seat of the Catholic Archbishop of Cologne. The University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) is one of Europe’s oldest and largest universities.

Hallo Freunde!

Here goes a card my Mom did send me from her holidays at Usedom! I really like her having a good time 🙂 Danke Mama!

Usedom is a Baltic Sea island on the border between Germany and Poland. It is situated north of the Szczecin Lagoon (German: Stettiner Haff) estuary of the River Oder in Pomerania. Most of the island belongs to the German district of Vorpommern-Greifswald in the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, with the exception of the eastern part and the city of Świnoujście (German: Swinemünde) which is in Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. With an annual average of 1906 sunshine hours, the island of Usedom is the sunniest region of Germany and the sunniest island in the Baltic Sea.
