Hallo vrienden!

Apirak says hi again! Once again – I am so lucky to receive so many cool cards from you and it’s so much fun to read your cards! Thanks for that 😀

De Wallen, also known as Walletjes or Rosse Buurt, is a designated area for legalised prostitution and is Amsterdam’s largest and most well known red-light district. This neighbourhood has become a famous attraction for tourists. It consists of a network of roads and alleys containing several hundred small, one-room apartments rented by sex workers who offer their services from behind a window or glass door, typically illuminated with red lights.

Did you know?

The Red Light District is one of the safest parts of Amsterdam!

Hallo vrienden!

A nice card from the Netherlands. Thank you Kees! Do you see the naked lady? hihi

Enkhuizen is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland and the region of West-Frisia.

Enkhuizen was one of the harbour-towns of the VOC, just like Hoorn and Amsterdam, from where overseas trade with the East Indies was conducted. It received city rights in 1355. In the mid-17th century, Enkhuizen was at the peak of its power and was one of the most important harbour cities in the Netherlands. However, due to a variety of reasons, notably the silting up of the harbours, Enkhuizen lost its position to Amsterdam.

Giethoorn, the Netherlands

Hallo vrienden!

This card came from Arienne from the Netherlands! Thank you very much!

Giethoorn is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality of Steenwijkerland, about 5 km southwest of Steenwijk.

Giethoorn used to be a carfree town known in the Netherlands as “Venice of the North”[ or “Venice of the Netherlands”. It became locally famous, especially after 1958, when the Dutch film maker Bert Haanstra made his famous comedy “Fanfare” there. In the old part of the village, there were no roads (nowadays there is a cycling path), and all transport was done by water over one of the many canals. The lakes in Giethoorn were formed by peat unearthing.

Giethoorn was founded by fugitives from the Mediterranean region in around AD 1230. Giethoorn was a separate municipality until 1973, when it became part of Brederwiede.
